While Leonard Nimoy is best known for his truly iconic role as Spock in the Star Trek The franchise, the beloved actor was about to be part of another much-loved sci-fi franchise. According to producer Philip Segal, Nimoy was almost directed by Doctor from TV movie back in 1996. Talk to Radio Times Ahead of the TV movie’s 25th anniversary, Seagal revealed that he had multiple meetings with Nimoy who wanted to direct, but unfortunately FOX had a case that worsened the situation.
“I had several meetings with Leonard Nimoy who wanted to direct her,” Segal said. I met him in Amblin [Entertainment]And we had great conversations. He was really excited about the possibility.”
Segal went on to explain that it was FOX who didn’t want him to do this, worried it would be “comical” for Spock to be from Star Trek Live – and then he wouldn’t let it happen unless Nimoy played a role in the movie as well.
“FOX didn’t want him to do that. They were worried it sounded too difficult, ‘Aren’t we smart?'” We got Spock from Star Trek Draw, ” he said.
He went on to explain that FOX wanted Nimoy to appear in the film as a requirement to direct and it was a humiliating thing for Nimoy, who was an established director in his own right at that point after he directed Star Trek III and Star Trek IV as well as Three Men and a Child.
“That was only an insult to Leonard, because that was not the subject of the rehearsals,” said Segal.
Finally, Jeffrey Sachs directed the film, and while it debuted in 1996, the film found new appreciation. As for the Doctor from Now, the BBC recently released the trailer for the final episode of the thirteenth episode of Dr. Julie Whitaker of the long-running series. The episode, which is part of the BBC’s centenary celebration, will see Dr. Whitaker return to Nkoti Jatwa’s 14th doctor. You can check out that trailer here.
